| Sacred Heart School Students and Faculty were in attendance to welcome former President William Jefferson Clinton, when he made a stop at the Williamson Fire Station recently. |



| Student Support Services Sister Jeanne Laufersweiler, a seasoned teacher, is on hand weekly at Sacred Heart to work in a variety of ways with individuals or groups of students. Sister Jeanne's position at Sacred Heart is funded by a grant from the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston. As an Instructional Resource Aid Jeanne works with students on special projects, provides challenge for students ready to move beyond grade level in specific areas, and works to reinforce skills with others. Sister Jeanne's involvement with the school is a great plus in meeting children's needs. In addition Sister Jeanne volunteers her time to coordinate the Newspaper Club that meets after school each week. |
| Sock Hop John and Jim Hunt and Eddie Nenni, all members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, better known as "The Jaguar's' were featured at a "Sock Hop" held recently at the New Sacred Heart Gym. |



| Math-a-thon Highlighting one of their service projects, students from Sacred Heart proudly display their Math–a- thon certificates and shirts. Math-a–thon is an annual project to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. Children there have life threatening diseases and count on money raised throughout the country on this program to further research. Sacred Heart students participated by doing math problems for which they had gotten sponsors. This year children raised $1,300. You can tell from their smiles that they “Celebrate Service” this year’s theme of Catholic Schools Week. Children are pictured with Mrs. Smith, the coordinator of the project. |
| Magician Master magician, ventriloquist, and balloon artist, Gary Booth, does just want he plans by astonishing Anaya Ali with the appearance of a live dove! Mr. Booth capped Catholic Schools Week off for the students with his performance sponsored by Tri- State Building and Construction Trades Council and the Mingo County Drug Free Schools Program. His motivational message of the importance of developing good character and living healthy lives was wonderfully delivered within the context of his captivating performance, and well received. Students at Sacred Heart look forward to Gary’s visit year after year. |

| Kindergarten Screening Screening: for prospective Sacred Heart kindergarten students will occur on the Saturdays of April 25, and May 2, 2009 between 9AM and 12 NOON by appointment. |

| Aquinas Medal Congratulations to Andrew Mullins who is this year’s recipient of the Aquinas Medal. Andrew and his family traveled to Morgantown to receive the award at the Bishop’s Dinner. The medal is awarded annually to a student in the highest grade in each school of the Diocese who demonstrates the value of Catholic school education. The medal was named for Saint Thomas Aquinas, a scholar and exemplary Christian who lived during the middle ages. |
